Carl Jones |

Carl Jones was born in Dublin in 1958. He is a graduate of the Dun Laoghaire College of Art and Design. He began his career as a graphic designer. In the field of feature animation he worked as a background artist at the Don Bluth studios in Dublin. In 1994 he moved to the USA and was employed as Art Director and background artist for nine years at the Walt Disney studios in Burbank, California. In 2004 he was Art Director on the 3D film "Valiant" in London, England.
While abroad Carl continued to exhibit in Ireland at the RHA Annual Exhibition and at the Gorry Gallery. He returned to live and paint in Ireland in 2004, building his new home and studio in Rush, Co Dublin. Carl Jones is a versatile artist. He is equally at ease painting landscapes, still life or portraits. He often paints "en plein air" and has made painting trips to Spain, France and the United States.

Awards and Nominations
In 2000, he was nominated for the prestigious Annie Award in Hollywood, California for Outstanding Achievement in Production Design. This was for his work on "The Firebird" in the Walt Disney Feature film “Fantasia” 2000. In 1994, he received the Don Niccolo D'Ardia Caraccilo, Royal Hibernian Academy Award
