Anna Marie was born in Pettigo, Co. Donegal and attended the National College of Art, Dublin. She lived and taught art in Dumfries, Scotland and Downpatrick, Co. Down.
Since 1971 she has worked from her studio in Co. Westmeath
Her paintings are regularly exhibited in the annual exhibitions of the Royal Hibernian Academy and Watercolour Society of Ireland.
A founder member of Mullingar Art Enterprises, Anna Marie has actively promoted watercolour as a medium by teaching in the V.E.C. Adult Education Programme for many years, and has been responsible for the phenomenal development of interest in watercolour painting and the visual arts in the midlands.
Internationally, Anna Marie has worked with artists in England, Canada and Japan.
She has taken part in International Exhibitions in Connecticut and Washington, USA, and the Municipal Art Museum, Tokyo, Japan, as part of the UNESCO International Friendship Exhibition. Her solo exhibitions include the Municipal Gallery in the Perfectual Cultural Centre, Fukui and the Saiwai Gallery, Kawasaki, both in Japan.
Anna Marie has exhibited annually with Kilcock Art Gallery since her solo exhibition in 1986.
